Notes on Coffee Brewing
I have a variety of contraptions for making coffee and I’m keeping notes on the variables I play with when using each method here.
Hario V60 Switch Glass Dripper
This is by far one of my favorites. I was gifted this a couple years back and it has become my go to when I want a good quality pour over at home.
My Typical Brew Process
I really only want a single cup and its meant for a single cup so I measure out a single mug full of water and that is the base variable.
- Water: ~373g - a single mug can vary, I have a Hydro Flask and a Yeti mug that I typically reach for in the morning. Each offer capacity for about 373g of water.
- Grounds: 15g - This seems to be the magic number for me. Anything less and its watery and anything more and its a little too much.
- Brew time: 2:30 to 3:30 - Depending on how bold you want the flavor, play with this a bit. 3:30 feels like the max I’ll go but I continue to experiment.
