A stupid simple spec for keeping track of my weeks
I use Obsidian as a personal knowledge base. One of the main documents I keep in Obsidian is TODO.md
. This is my weekly planner, notepad, and everything task tracking. It is purposely simple and barebones to ensure I actually use it. I've always found that the more complicated a task tracker, the more likely you are to fall into "tool paralysis". This is the same reason I use a plain markdown file instead of some stupid app.
This post is simple, as is my spec.
The Spec
- Work is done in 1 work week increments
- The date in the header should be the Friday of that week
- Every week is nested under the current year
- Everything is in descending order
- At the top of the document lives the
Pinboard
for important links and messages for myself - There are only 2 sub sections for each week; Thoughts and Tasks
Structure
# Pinboard
{A live list of links or notes}

# {YYYY}
## Week of {YYYY-MM-DD}
### Thoughts
### Tasks
Thats it.
